Article 1 - BP

Article 1: What is Business Partner in SAP S/4HANA?

What is a Business Partner (BP)?

A Business Partner (BP) is SAP's new way to manage information about vendors, customers, and employees in one central location. Instead of creating separate records for vendors and customers, you now create one BP record that can serve multiple purposes.

Key Benefits:

  • One record per entity - A single company can be both your vendor and customer
  • No duplicate data - Update address once, it applies everywhere
  • Complete view - See all business relationships in one place

How is this different from before?

  • Old way: Separate vendor master (XK01) and customer master (XD01)
  • New way: Single Business Partner transaction (BP)

What stays the same?
The underlying vendor and customer tables still exist, but they're automatically synchronized through Customer-Vendor Integration (CVI).
