What is Goods Issue for production?

Goods Issue for production orders is the process of issuing raw materials and components to manufacturing operations. This reduces inventory and charges material costs to the production order[3].

How to issue goods to production orders:

Method 1: Using Transaction MB1A

  1. Enter transaction MB1A
  2. Select movement type 261 (Goods Issue to Order)
  3. Enter plant and storage location
  4. Click "Order To" button
  5. Enter production order number
  6. Click "Adopt Details" - system pulls BOM components
  7. Verify quantities and adjust if needed
  8. Save to post the goods issue

Method 2: Using MIGO

  1. Enter transaction MIGO
  2. Select A07 - Goods Issue
  3. Choose R08 - Order as reference
  4. Enter production order number
  5. System displays required components
  6. Enter actual issued quantities
  7. Post the goods issue

What happens when I post goods issue to production?

Stock Impact:

  • Raw material stock decreases in the issuing storage location
  • WIP (Work-in-Process) increases if configured
  • Reserved stock is consumed if materials were reserved

Financial Impact:

  • Material costs are charged to the production order
  • Inventory value decreases by the issued amount
  • Cost of goods manufactured increases

How to reverse a goods issue to production:

If you need to cancel the goods issue:

  1. Use movement type 262 (Goods Issue Reversal)
  2. Enter the same quantities that were originally issued
  3. Reference the same production order
  4. Use the same batch numbers if applicable
  5. Post the reversal - this increases stock back

Important notes:

  • Goods issue can only be reversed before order confirmation
  • Always verify batch numbers match for reversal
  • Check cost impact on production order after posting
