Article 3: What are Business Partner roles and why do I need them?

What is a Business Partner role?

A role defines how a partner interacts with your company. One Business Partner can have multiple roles at the same time.

Common vendor roles:

  • FLVN00 (FI Vendor): Standard financial vendor for purchasing
  • 000000 (General BP): Basic business partner information

Why use multiple roles?

  • Example: ABC Company can be:
  • Your vendor (FLVN00) - you buy from them
  • Your customer (FLCN00) - you sell to them
  • Both roles use the same address and contact information

How to assign roles:

  1. Open existing Business Partner
  2. Go to Role tab
  3. Click Add Role
  4. Select appropriate role type
  5. Save changes
