Article 71 - TM Planning

Article 71: How Do Transportation Planning and Execution Integrate MM and TM?

End-to-End Process:

  1. MM triggers shipment need: (e.g., PO, Delivery, Stock Transfer).
  2. Planning in TM: System creates FUs, then FOs (allocating carriers/resources based on master data).
  3. Execution in TM: FO is dispatched, tracked, and managed (statuses update in real time).
  4. Updates sent back: TM writes back to MM (delivery status, delays, exceptions).

Key Integration Points:

  • Scheduling: Delivery dates in MM must align with feasible carrier/vehicle availability.
  • Capacity checks: Ensures MM delivery quantities fit within actual logistics limits.
  • Alerts: Delays, damages, or route deviations in TM send alerts back to MM for purchasing/logistics action.
